SC Identity: The Birdman
Hello SC fam,

I saw those amazing trait posts by the one and only Zornathologist and I wanted to write a little bit about one of my favorite identities in the Strange Connections collection: „The Birdman“.

The Birdman Identity is available in 3 different trait categories:

  • Birdman (39 pieces in the whole collection)
  • Birdman Legendary (39 in the whole collection)
  • Birdman Mythic (18 in the whole collection)

So you see: Not only a very cool and artistic trait but also a super rare one. As the time of writing this post there is none of those identities listed.

So what does the Birdman stand for?

The Birdman reminds me personally of the Egyptian god Khonshu.
Especially after the Marvel series „Moon Knight“ I guess a lot of people know who that god is.

But let us dive a little bit into the character and what Khonshu stands for.
So Khonshu is the ancient Egyptian god of the moon and son of the god Amun and the goddess of heaven Mut. He is primarily associated with the moon and the night but is also known for his role as a guide and protector. In ancient Egyptian belief, Khonshu watched over travelers at night, providing them with safe passage and guarding them against evil spirits. He was seen as a deity who illuminated the darkness and provided guidance to those in need. As a result, Khonshu became associated with divination and prophecy, as the moon's movements were believed to hold mystical knowledge.

In addition to his protective nature, Khonshu also possessed a powerful and vengeful side. It is said that he had the ability to manifest divine wrath upon those who opposed him or betrayed his trust. This aspect of his character is often associated with justice and retribution.

Besides his role in the physical world he was believed to assist souls in their journey through the afterlife and helped them overcome obstacles in the underworld.

What does Khonshu/The Birdman Identity look like?

Khonshu is often depicted as a man with the head of a falcon or a falcon wearing a lunar disk. He is closely connected to the lunar cycle, symbolizing the ever-changing nature of the moon.
I also added a Strange Connections with the Birdman identity to this post.

Would love to hear your thoughts on this identity.

Much love!

Beanz I loved this article! Glad to put some knowledge behind the Birdman trait and what he symbolizes within the SC collection. When I was reading this I started to see where he comes in to play with mental health awareness. In my eyes he could be seen as our guide through our therapy sessions or mediation times through out our day. This was some great insight into this trait!
