Mental Wellness Session Recap: 7/10/2023
Last night, We had another mental wellness session lead by Sara. The focus of this session was an intro to meditation and the benefits of practicing!

Session Notes:

Meditation Apps to Try:
  • CalmĀ 
  • Insight Timer

Tips and Tricks:
  • Set intention to meditate
  • Set time aside and prep for your meditation
  • Eat something/Go to bathroom ( donā€™t want to get interrupted by a empty stomach, or needing to go to the bathroom)
  • Comfy close
  • ā€œSafeā€ environment
  • Headphones (noise canceling preferred)
  • Good posture ( if your new to meditation, try sitting up so you donā€™t fall asleep)


Breathing Techniques (before, after, during meditation)
  • Be intentional with your breathing
    • Box Breathing
      • Picture squareĀ 
      • Inhale for 5, hold for 5, exhale for 5, hold for 5Ā 
      • repeat 5 + timesĀ 
    • 4,7,8 Breathing Technique
      • inhale for 4 seconds, hold for 7 seconds, exhale for 8 seconds
      • repeatĀ
